Project Overview

The purpose was to showcase the impressive location of the tower crane, suspended on the fourth floor, and the controlled demolition of the rear elevation while keeping the structure intact.

Surrounded by commercial and residential premises, including St Helen's Church, our drones were able to capture the intended footage of the works and our client's final edit can be viewed here.

Challenge

The City of London is one of three designated restricted areas in London, requiring permission from the Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection (PaDP) branch of the Met Police.

The site is also down a private gated road owned by The Leathersellers’ Company, who provided their consent for the operation to take place and were kept informed throughout all stages of the project.

Approach

It was important to maintain clear communication with the site management to adhere to the onsite health and safety requirements, such as appropriate PPE and CSCS certification.

Coordination was required to capture the tower cranes lifting materials over the front facade, to showcase the scale of the project, therefore a chain of radio command was established with the crane driver.
