Project Overview

Survey Air was appointed to provide repeat UAV media services for the redevelopment of 1.28 hectares of employment land, replacing outdated industrial buildings with 6,637m² (71,440 sq ft) of flexible space suitable for industrial, process, storage and distribution uses.

The brief focused on documenting construction progress and producing high-quality aerial imagery and video to support marketing activity and project reporting. With demolition complete and steel frame construction underway, the site required clear, consistent visual records.

Challenge

The scale and active nature of the live construction environment presented operational challenges, including moving plant, changing site layouts, and nearby flight restriction zones. Each media visit required up-to-date risk assessments and coordination with the principal contractor to ensure safe UAV operations.

As a repeat service, consistency across multiple capture phases was essential. Aligning flight paths, camera angles, and framing between visits was critical to accurately show progress across the three new industrial units, particularly as two of the steel frames were erected and the third progressed on site.

Approach

Survey Air implemented a repeat-flight methodology, using pre-defined take-off points, flight paths, and camera settings to ensure continuity across all UAV media captures. Regular site coordination enabled surveys to be undertaken alongside ongoing construction activity, maintaining full compliance with CAA regulations.

High-resolution aerial photography and stabilised video were captured to clearly illustrate steel frame installation, service yard layouts, parking provision, and the wider employment context. The resulting media provides a consistent and valuable marketing asset as the scheme moves towards completion.
