Project Overview
Survey Air were instructed to undertake a drone survey and record the condition of the roof areas to assist our client with a planned preventative maintenance inspection of the school and associated buildings.
Our team is experienced in school surveys and carry valid DBS checks along with all our other relevant accreditations and approvals, which were circulated to relevant personnel and senior staff as part of our flight preparations.
Challenge
The extent of survey included all roof areas and high-level elements such as pitched roofs, flat roofs, rooflights and rainwater goods. The premises comprise the main school building and sixth form college located at the top of Hilly Fields.
With the use of the premises as a school, and primarily due to the presence of children, the site was considered an area of social sensitivity with the security and privacy concerns associated to capturing images near school premises.
Approach
Despite the timing of the summer holidays, school camps were being held for the duration of the survey. In coordination with on-site staff, our team managed to operate at pre-arranged times and achieve the data capture in one day.
Our drone survey allowed the surveyor to obtain a clear understanding of the condition of the roof areas and advise on the appropriate scope of works and budgets for any programmed works or immediate repairs.
